Buying and selling property can often come down to two things: kitchens and bathrooms. For sellers, if budget is tight look to improve these areas with any available finance. For buyers always take a good look at the moving parts in these functional rooms; if the owner has taken care of them then there’s a good chance the rest of the property will be in good order. This week we’ll turn our attention to kitchens.
The Golden Triangle
Have you heard of the golden triangle? It might sound like something from Harry Potter but it is in fact the principle that the ideal position for your cooker, refrigerator and sink is in a triangle. Have a look at your kitchen and see if you have this much loved and efficient layout. If not you might want to consider shifting things around.
If you are considering a kitchen redesign shop around and get at least three quotes as costs can vary widely.
Storage is Vital
Storage is obviously key in any kitchen. In Edinburgh you will find that some properties simply do not allow for much kitchen cupboard space. Suspended racks and the tops of kitchen units can double up as extra shelves. Think creatively!
Replacement or Revamp?
It’s not always the best option to go for a full-on redesign, especially if you are looking for a quick property sale. There are many simple things that you can do to give your kitchen a lift including re-tiling, replacing splash-backs with chrome or waterproof material and changing cupboard door handles.
